Since 2010, experienced business owner Randy Eastburg has supervised all aspects of Valley Ridge Roofing and Construction in Flower Mound, Texas. Beyond his work, Randy Eastburg is a fan of the National Hockey League Dallas Stars.
Ken Hitchcock, coach of the Stars during the 2017-18 season, announced his retirement from coaching on April 13, and Dallas wasted little time finding his replacement. On May 4, the team announced former University of Denver head coach Jim Montgomery as the eighth coach in team history.
Montgomery had been the University of Denver head coach since 2013 and previously held the same role with the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League. Montgomery led Denver to a national championship in 2017 and, as a head coach at the development level, mentored current NHL players Johnny Gaudreau, Mike Matheson, Henrik Borgstrom, and Will Butcher. He was also an assistant coach at the University of Notre Dame and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
As a player, Montgomery appeared in 122 career NHL games, nine of which were with the Stars. He’ll be tasked with changing the fortunes of a Dallas team that missed the playoffs in consecutive years and has been unable to find a balance between offense and defense.
